Research Interest

His research is focused on the canine skin microbiome and applied artificial intelligence in veterinary dermatology. For more information regarding current studies please visit his Lab’s website.

Teaching Interest

Dr. Apostolopoulos lectures dermatology for 2nd and 3rd year students. He created two elective dermatology courses for the 1st and 2nd year students. He also supervises 4th year veterinary students, interns, and residents while on clinical duty.

Clinical Interest

His clinical interests include all aspects of dermatology, allergology, and otology. Dr. Apostolopoulos has also experience in CO2 Laser Surgery (removal of skin masses, surgical treatment of interdigital cysts and nodules, ablation of in situ squamous cell carcinoma) and fluorescence photobiomodulation treatment (complicated skin infections). He has high clinical interest performing CO2 Laser surgery of interdigital cysts in dogs, intralymphatic immunotherapy for allergies and immunotherapy in dogs for severe bee/wasp sting hypersensitivity.

Administrative Role

Dr. Apostolopoulos is co-chief of the LSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital Dermatology Service.

Dr. Apostolopoulos is the Primary Mentor of our ACVD Veterinary Dermatology Residency Program (2024 – present).

Dr. Apostolopoulos was Secretary and President of the ECVD Residents Board (2019-2021).
