The Leadership Challenge

Overview

"The Leadership Challenge" by James M. Kouzes and Barry Z. Posner is a seminal book in the field of leadership. Published in 1987 and now in its sixth edition, it presents a comprehensive framework for effective leadership based on extensive research. The book identifies five fundamental practices of exemplary leadership: Model the Way, Inspire a Shared Vision, Challenge the Process, Enable Others to Act, and Encourage the Heart. Kouzes and Posner's research suggests that leaders who consistently practice these five behaviors are more effective at inspiring and mobilizing others towards shared goals. "The Leadership Challenge" provides practical advice, real-world examples, and exercises to help individuals develop their leadership skills and become more effective leaders.

Workshop Objectives

Participants will . . .

  • Increase awareness of the five practices of exemplary leaders including commitments leaders make and behaviors leaders’ practice.
  • Assess their personal leadership strengths and weaknesses relative to effective leadership behaviors.
