Frequently Asked Questions
To help answer common questions, we’ve created a Workday Reference Guide for frequently asked questions, which provides helpful information on billing, payments, and other related topics.
Why is my Graduate Assistantship not applying?
The two most common reasons why a Graduate Assistantship would not populate are that the student is not currently enrolled in 9+ hours (not including waitlisted classes), or the appointment date in workday needs to be adjusted. If the appointment date needs to be added or altered, your department can complete this task.
Why is my insurance populating on my bill?
All graduate assistants are assessed Health Insurance with a 75% waiver. Any international graduate assistants will be taxed on the 75% waiver, this will populate on your bill as "Federal Tax - Award/Waiver". If you already have insurance through a third party, you may request an insurance waiver by going to the Gallagher website.
For more information, please visit our Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) webpage.
Can I set up payroll deduction for my account balance?
We no longer offer payroll deduction with the transition to Workday Student. Graduate students can enroll the balance into an installment plan without having to pay the $60 enrollment fee.
I received my stipend, and the amount doesn't look right. Who should I talk to?
The LSU Payroll Office is able to assist with questions regarding stipend payments and W-2 tax forms.
