Biography

Josh Howard is an adjunct professor at LSU's Manship School of Mass Communication and the Roger Hadfield Ogden Honors College. He brings more than a decade of experience as a communications practitioner, researcher and community leader to the classroom.

Howard serves as chief of staff for the Baton Rouge Youth Coalition, a postsecondary-access nonprofit helping students whose communities have been underserved navigate the path from 8th grade to career. Since 2016, he has also served as a communications consultant to the East Baton Rouge District Attorney's Office, a relationship that has grown into his current role as campaign manager for the district attorney's 2026 reelection campaign.

His research centers on digital well-being. His Flourishing Online curriculum applies the PERMA model of positive psychology to social media use, and he is a contributing author to the forthcoming textbook "Counseling Athletes: Mental Health Across the Lifespan."

Howard's recent accolades include COLOR Magazine's Most Influential Men (2025), the Public Relations Association of Louisiana's Practitioner of the Year (2024), the LSU Black Alumni Distinguished Young Alumni award (2023) and the American Advertising Federation's Mosaic Champion award (2021). He holds a bachelor's degree in mass communication from LSU and a master's in applied positive psychology from the University of Pennsylvania.
