
Biography
Elizabeth Vowell Blades is a nationally recognized and award-winning reporter and
anchor for WAFB’s 9News at 6 and 10. Since 2012, she’s been on the frontlines of the
biggest stories in the Baton Rouge area. She also produced two award winning documentaries,
one focusing on the impact of the opioid epidemic on the capital region and another
examining the lasting and far reaching impact of driving under the influence through
the eyes of a police officer who was gravely injured by an alleged drunk driver.
Elizabeth’s work has been honored with two National Edward R. Murrow Awards, multiple
Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, two Telly Awards, 5 Regional Emmy Awards, and multiple
statewide awards with the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters and the Associated
Press including Reporter of the Year in 2016.
She has been an adjunct professor with LSU’s Manship School of Journalism since 2022.
