I love to toss a Frisbee. I have a pretty good arm. I used to toss with friends in high school and college.
The best advice
My former employer used to say, in a more colorful way than I can represent here, that “poor planning yields poor results.” I’ve found this to be true throughout my life. On those occasions where I’ve produced good outcomes either at work or in my personal life, they have almost always been the result of careful planning and thoughtful execution.
Something I wish first-year students knew
College is about self-discovery. Try different kinds of courses until you find your passion. Focus on developing a broad range of talents. Learning how to think clearly and to speak and write effectively are skills that will serve you well, whichever path you choose. It’s also normal to fall short in various ways as you figure things out. Learn how to manage your stress in healthful ways. Each time you falter, pick yourself back up and keep pushing towards the realization of your dreams.
