LSU’s Center for Academic Success Named World’s Only Three-Time Center of Excellence
September 10, 2025
LSU’s Center for Academic Success (CAS) has once again proven itself a world leader in student learning support.
The International College Learning Center Association (ICLCA) has recertified CAS as a Learning Center of Excellence for 2024-28—making LSU the only institution in the world to receive this honor three times.

“This honor reflects the innovative and sustained work happening every day at the Center for Academic Success,” said Interim Executive Vice President & Provost Troy Blanchard. “It demonstrates to the world what our students already know, that LSU provides exceptional support and guidance that empowers them to grow, persevere, and achieve at the highest level.”
The designation reflects the center’s dedication to cultivating academic resilience and fostering lifelong learning among LSU students. CAS was evaluated across a wide range of criteria, including:
- program and services
- organizational framework
- academic integrity and learning environment
- funding, resources, and design
- staff and professional development
- promotion and public relations
- and assessment and evaluation.
“This recognition is a testament to the dedication of our staff and the resilience of our students. Earning this distinction three times shows the lasting impact of our work and our commitment to helping LSU students succeed both in the classroom and beyond,” said Alexandra Garcia, CAS director.
As LSU’s central learning hub, CAS provides tutoring, supplemental instruction, learning strategy sessions, and workshops to help students master not just subject matter, but the strategies and confidence needed to thrive academically and beyond.
Students reported anonymously that working with the Center for Academic Success was a positive experience, with one noting they learned practical strategies to master concepts and maximize their skills, and another describing their time with a Learning Specialist as “amazing.”
“I had an amazing experience! She was so thorough and helped me think of studying and learning in a new and more realistic way. I learned that college studying is supposed to be less intense yet more deep and consistent than high school studying, which really helped me put my schedule into perspective. She also really helped me navigate my very busy and intense schedule and helped me find ways to work around all of the time I spend traveling or in class,” the student said.
The ICLCA’s Learning Center of Excellence designation promotes best practices across higher education, encouraging learning centers to deliver high-quality programs that enhance student success. By meeting and exceeding these standards, LSU’s CAS continues to set the benchmark for excellence worldwide.
