Fueling the Future: LSU Provost’s Fund Driving Solutions in Science, Technology, and the Arts
February 05, 2025
For the third consecutive year, LSU is providing funding to support new research and creative projects through its internal grant program, the LSU Provost’s Fund for Innovation in Research.
This year, $1.8 million was invested from the Provost’s Fund. These funds are a continued
investment in interdisciplinary projects, ranging from STEM to the arts and humanities.
They ensure that these projects have the resources needed to make a meaningful impact.
By supporting new and creative research that addresses current challenges, LSU contributes to solutions that improve communities, drive innovation, and expand our understanding of the world around us.
“These newly funded projects exemplify the breadth and depth of innovation at LSU, spanning critical advancements in STEM and transformative contributions in the arts and humanities,” said LSU Executive Vice President & Provost Roy Haggerty.
The funded projects will engage more than 70 faculty members across 10 colleges and schools on LSU’s flagship campus in Baton Rouge including the College of Humanities & Social Sciences, College of Music & Digital Media, College of Business, College of Engineering, and the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine.
These transformative projects include:
- Developing of a new treatment for traumatic brain injury
- Studying how the physical environments of public libraries can better accommodate neurodivergent users
- Enhancing power grid security and reliability with battery systems and intelligent controllers to protect against cyberattacks
- Exploring the role of artificial intelligence in shaping religious, social, and political identities
